Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to study the methods using an online museums in history classes. Despite its utility, museum classes have not been an active teaching method in history education until recently. This is because students learn about museum artifacts before going to the museum, and after the teacher submits the assignment, students visit the museum to perform the assignment and then return to the classroom for presentation and discussion classes, as well as administrative matters such as permission from magagers and reporting to them, parent notification, and safety inspection were burdensome to the teacher. Therefore, museum history classes have been replaced by after-school activities such as participation in educational programs or club activities in the museum itself.
In this paper, we will look at various ways to teach history using the platforms and homepages currently provided by online museums with techniques such as VR, AR, 3D, and video. Online museum classes allow teachers to get the same information as they actually saw in the museum without taking the time to visit, and to give faithful history classes without doing cumbersome administrative matters. In this paper, I would like to visit Cheongju National Museum online and introduce various history class plans that can be conducted using various artifacts displayed here in history classes around the country.
Currently, many museums display artifacts online and do their best to make them more accessible to students and the public. As a result, museums in various regions can also look at local relics without actually visiting them. In particular, the Cheongju National Museum has a permanent exhibition representing metal crafts and houses relics from prehistoric to modern times, allowing students from different regions to explore the history of each period and broaden their understanding of excavated artifacts in the Jungwon area without visiting the museum.
Focusing on these artifacts, this paper introduces various examples of classes using online museum exhibits, especially inquiry classes and flipped learning and smart learning techniques, and uses them in museum classes that can be done in classrooms.
