Plan of the Conservation, Maintenance and Utilization for the Eumseong Mangyisanseong

Abstract
Eumseong Mangyisanseong(望夷山城, Mangyi mountain fortress) that was built by Baekje during the Three Kingdoms Period and continued to be operated until the Joseon Dynasty, is a 'Serial Properties' that has an important role as a historical and cultural position. In this paper, in order to plan the conservation, maintenance, and utilization of Eumseong Mangyisanseong, we analyzed and compared and reviewed major cases among other fortresses.
The basic direction to the conservation, maintenance and utilization of Eumseong Mangyisanseong is to come up with a way to harmonize the conservation, maintenance and utilization of cultural properties while observing the principle of preservation of the original form without damaging the value of cultural properties. To do this end, systematic scholarly excavation (preliminary and excavation research) and academic research should come first, and the results should be well reflected in conservation, maintenance, and utilization.
Recognizing the conservation and management of cultural assets in modern society can be maximized , when they are organically combined in a variety of aspects, we explored the academic, administrative, and economic aspects respectively for efficient management of Eumseong Mangyisanseong and suggested several solutions accordingly.
Eumseong-gun is planning to expand related projects, such as establishing a comprehensive maintenance plan for the conservation and management of Eumseong Mangyisanseong and its promotion as a historic site. and the plan carried out in accordance with the above principles and measures is expected to serve as an indicator for future cultural heritage management.
