Abstract
The Dogi-dong Fortress in Anseong is a Koguryo fortress located at the point where it connects Namseonggol Fortress in Sejong, Wolpyeong-dong Fortress in Daejeon, and Gukwon Fortress(國原城), where Chungju Koguryo Monument is located, which applied all-round pressure around Ungjin(熊津), the capital of Baekje, to Mongchon Earthenwall in the Han River basin. Although the fortress is located in a hill that is not very high at 78m above sea level, the view is secured in all directions, and through the analysis of the visible area, the inland traffic route leading to Juksan and the plain area formed along the Anseong Stream can be observed well.
The structure of the entire fortress has not yet been identified due to partial excavation, but it is believed that Baekje's first construction as the Earthen-walled fortress in the late 4th century was rebuilt and used as a wooden-fenced fortress by Koguryo, after occupied Hanseong(漢城) in 475. However, the construction method of the fortress wall is still being discussed. In particular, in the case of the wall with the reinforced stone wall, there is a possibility that a stone wall was partially built or rebuilt in that it is the same as the construction method of Mudeung-ri 2nd Fortress in Yeoncheon.
The Dogi-dong Fortress in Anseong is of great historical significance and value in that it is an important site that can understand the process of Koguryo's southern advance and construction techniques.
