Abstract

Suamgol, located in Sudong-dong, Sangdang-gu, Cheongju, was formed by refugees after June 25, and did not receive much attention until the 2000s, but was transformed into an area visited by many visitors when a mural village was created and introduced as a filming location for dramas in 2008. Although tourism has been experienced, such as an increase in convenience facilities due to an increase in visitors, the settlement environment of residents living in Suamgol has not improved significantly. In future urban regeneration projects, measures should be sought to improve the residential environment of residents along with projects to form communities for residents. For the residential environment of Suamgol, the residential environment centered on public-led low-rise apartments should be improved, and policies and projects should be set to be used as a memory space to discover historicity related to 6.25 and connect facilities owned by Cheongju.
